Easter is April 1, 2018 and yes, He is alive!

Easter 2018

Easter is a very special holiday for us Christian folk. It’s the day that we celebrate our King, Jesus Christ’s triumph over death. It’s a happy day filled with joy and anticipation of the day we are reunited with him. The holiday represents rebirth and renewal. It brings with it, thoughts of spring and warmer weather (here in Michigan anyway). For me, Easter is the foundation of my faith and a key to the hope that I have in my Saviour.

When I was looking for other pigments to “smoosh” after my Distress Oxide cards, I started playing with the Lindy’s Stamp Gang Starburst Sprays. These beautiful dye inks come in powder form and when water is added, turn into two-tone beauties that sparkle and shine.

I wasn’t thinking about Easter when I was playing around, however, the gold mica in some of the sprays made me think of royalty.  I thought to myself, “There really is no one more worthy of the title ‘Royal’ than the King of the Jews.” So, boom! Easter cards.

As an aside, I’d like to point out that I invite God into most of my creative endeavors (I know, it should be all, but I fall short sometimes). When I invite my Father into my art, He helps me to access a part of my imagination that I most likely would not have tapped into without Him. It’s really great fun to see what we can come up with. Don’t get me wrong, I’m fully aware that I can be creative by myself. He’s given me that gift. However, like with everything in life, if I invite him personally to join in the fun, he will, and it’s a blast.

Anyway, these beautiful, abstract backgrounds were just screaming to be Easter cards. If you’d like to watch the process video, watch here:
